Event Logistics Officer – Edinburgh Climate Festival 2024 (29 June 2024)

Freelance Position: Event Logistics Officer – £15/hour – 7 hours/day – 1 day (hours might be split in 2 days)/week

Fixed-term contract: 23 days – £2,415/ Immediate start, running to mid-July 2024/Funded by The National Lottery Community Fund’s Climate Action Fund

We are thrilled to announce that as part of the Communities’ Reduce Reuse & Recycle a joint project delivered by Edinburgh and Lothians Regional Equality Council (ELREC), NKS – Networking Key Services & SCOREscotland we’ve successfully secured funding from The National Lottery Community Fund‘s Climate Action Fund to bring you the ECF 2024! 🎉

The Edinburgh Climate Festival continues its legacy as a vibrant, community-led event dedicated to celebrating climate action and fostering environmental awareness. Established in 2016, the Festival operates as a collaborative effort among Edinburgh-based charities. It aims to unite local organisations, communities, and the public for a day of engaging, fun, and family-friendly activities.

In 2021, the Festival drew 3,000 participants. In 2024, our goal is to build on this success and create an even more impactful event on Saturday, 29 June 2024 at the Meadows Park. Covering diverse environmental topics, the Festival provides a platform for communities of all backgrounds to learn about sustainability, collaborate, have fun, and celebrate community-led climate action.

Role Purpose:

As the Event Logistics Officer, your primary responsibility will be to facilitate the planning and execution of the 2024 Edinburgh Climate Festival. Working closely with staff members, you will contribute to the preparation and implementation of Festival project plans. We encourage your creativity to help ensure an inclusive and memorable Festival experience.

 

Team:

You will respond to the Event Coordinator, and work closely with the Event Officer, Communications Officer, ELREC, NKS, Score Scotland staff and volunteers.

 

Location:

This is a hybrid role, involving work at the Edinburgh & Lothians Regional Equality Council (ELREC) Office (14 Forth St, Edinburgh EH1 3LH), and/or remote work.

 

Role Description:

As the Edinburgh Climate Festival Event Logistics Officer, your responsibilities include:

  • Supporting Working Groups/Circles (Comms, Logistics, Council and venue, Volunteer Coordination, etc.) to ensure the delivery of agreed actions.
  • Attending meetings for volunteer recruitment and overseeing their induction.
  • Collaborating with the Communications Circle and staff members to promote the event.
  • Contributing to relevant event management documentation.
  • Liaising with the Council, statutory agencies, and contractors.
  • Monitoring deadlines and implementing event objectives.
  • Resolving problems and addressing guest inquiries before and during the event.
  • Coordinating on-site event operations.
  • Any other duties agreed upon by the core organising team.

 

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Proven experience in event coordination/logistics.
  • Passion for event sustainability and community-led initiatives.
  • Strong organisational and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team and with diverse stakeholders.
