Circular Economy Fashion Show

We are taking a moment to look back at the amazing success of the Circular Economy Fashion show, that took place recently right outside the Scottish Parliament – in Holyrood, Edinburgh.

Our C3R team had the pleasure of collaborating along with many other brilliant organisations working in the sustainability and climate field across Scotland to create a Fashion Show dedicated to supporting the importance of the Circular Economy Bill. The aim of the event was to call on MSPs to support this upcoming bill as it is essential for creating change centered around responsible consumption, waste monitoring & reduction as well as improving the well being of our communities and the protection of our planet.

Various models took to the catwalk, wearing creative designs that each sparked their own message. Crafted through reused materials, up-cycled products and including contents that allude to the wasteful, plastic-centered, short-life products that our economy has relied on for far too long. Our wonderful C3R models were found walking down the catwalk wearing clothes sourced from our Zero Waste Competition, Swap Shop event & up-cycled pieces such as jewelry made from old tin foil and reused fabric.

The many organisations present aimed to draw attention to the important work being made at community level, hoping to draw support from the Government at a larger scale. Each individual action is essential but if we are to tackle the greater issues relating to climate change we are going to need the support at a greater, wider level – bringing accountability to larger organisations and changing the way our economy and system functions.
