Role Overview
- Salary: £29,804.33 per annum
- Hours: 32 hours per week (includes occasional evenings/weekends; TOIL applies)
- Contract: 1 year (extension potential)
- Reports To: Line Manager
About the Role:
The Project Coordinator will lead, deliver, and expand the C3R project. This role combines project management, community engagement, volunteer leadership, and event coordination to support local communities in taking practical climate action.
Core Project Focus Areas
The C3R project promotes community-led environmental and climate action through:
- Waste Reduction: Reuse, repair, upcycling, swap shops, and sustainable fashion.
- Education & Engagement: Carbon literacy, environmental campaigns, and creative arts/cultural climate initiatives.
- Green Spaces, food and nature regeneration: Food growing, community gardens and biodiversity.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Project Coordination & Delivery
- Manage project plans, timelines, budgets, and reporting to ensure all funder objectives and targets are met.
- Facilitate carbon literacy training, environmental workshops, and outreach presentations.
- Monitor performance, collect data/participant feedback, and identify barriers to delivery.
- Promote equality, diversity, inclusion, and anti-discriminatory practices across all operations.
- Community Engagement & Partnerships
- Build and maintain strong relationships with community organisations, local authorities, funders, working partners and environmental networks.
- Lead engagement activities across diverse communities to increase participation and strengthen cohesion.
- Support climate justice initiatives, public campaigns, and community-led environmental networks.
- Event Management
- Lead the planning of workshops, events and campaigns.
- Coordinate artists, facilitators, exhibitors, speakers, and volunteers.
- Ensure sustainable practices and environmentally responsible event planning.
- Oversee the Edinburgh Climate Festival. (Support the Event Coordinator if not coordinating the event.)
- Volunteer & Team Management
- Recruit, train, supervise, and support staff, volunteers, and interns.
- Coordinate volunteer rotas, training opportunities, and leadership development.
- Funding
- Write funding applications, identify growth opportunities, and write reports for stakeholders.
Person Specification
Essential Skills & Abilities
- Project & Event Management: Proven ability to manage timelines, coordinate events, oversee budgets, and meet deadlines.
- Communication: Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills.
- Community Engagement: Ability to build partnerships and engage diverse communities in climate and sustainability initiatives.
- Leadership: Experience supervising, training, and supporting staff and volunteers.
- Values: Deep commitment to equality, inclusion, climate justice and anti-discriminatory practice.
- Experience facilitating training sessions or workshops.
Desirable
- Relevant qualification in environmental studies or a related field.
