International Mother Language Day 2022

On Monday, the 21st of February, it was International Mother Language Day 2022. It was a great honour for the ELREC team to take part in this event, as well as, listening to inspirational speeches from the Lord Provost, Foysol Choudhury MSP on the importance if this event and what it means for communities in Edinburgh.

International Mother Language Day is observed globally on 21 February to recognize and promote multilingual diversity. This day also aims to preserve and transmit traditional knowledge and cultures through multilingual societies.

We would like to thank everyone who came to the event, took part in sharing some poetry and dances and speeches.

We look forward to next years event, in the meantime, we must continue promote awareness of linguistic and cultural diversity and to promote multilingualism.
