Edinburgh Climate Festival – Volunteer Appreciation

This past Friday, 30th August, we celebrated our hard working volunteers with an appreciation event held at Arthur’s Seat, Edinburgh. We joined together with a group of this year’s Edinburgh Climate Festival Volunteers to enjoy a sunny afternoon together with a nature appreciation art workshop & team picnic. The event started off with a short walk around Arthur’s Seat lake to collect various foraged elements from the natural spaces present. This part of the workshop aimed to emphasize connection to nature whilst gathering natural elements to be used for the individual & collaborative artworks. The art workshop utilized donated reused art materials & nature elements to help create two different pieces of work. The first prompt was to create based on a specific individual memory related to nature, whilst the collaborative piece prompted participants to add to the canvas their own ideas relating to the future of the Edinburgh Climate Festival. Throughout the end of the session the group enjoyed having a plant-based picnic and all volunteers received their very own certificates & bee seed planting gifts! 🐝🌻

We would like to extend a huge thank you to everyone who came along and to express our gratitude towards all the amazing volunteers this year, including those who weren’t able to attend. We hope to continue counting on the amazing help & support that keeps festivals such as ECF going strong in our communities!
