Routes to Roots Visit to the Scottish Portrait Gallery

October 28, 2017 @ 10:30 am - 1:00 pm
  • This event has passed.

ELREC’s Routes to Roots project aims to share experiences and promote understanding between different migrant cultures in the Edinburgh area. As part of this project we are visiting various heritage sites.

Our next heritage visit will be another visit to the Scottish National Portrait Gallery, on Saturday the 28th of October. This time we will be given a tour of Famous and Infamous Scots, especially those with connections with Africa, South Asia, Poland, China and Spain. The tour will include the “Imagining Power: The Visual Culture of the Jacobite Cause” for the Jacobite connection with Poland. As usual a short discussion will follow the tour.

More information on this exhibition can be found here: https://goo.gl/aWQK2o

Interested in the Jacobite-Poland connection? Check out our podcast with Prof. Robert Frost of Aberdeen University here: https://youtu.be/qYe40vZSH_A

We will meet at ELREC’s Office at 10:30am on Saturday the 28th then all travel to the museum which is a 5 minute walk. We will be at the Museum from 11am-1pm.
