Zero Waste Scotland Cascade Training -FREE / Food Waste Reduction (Love Food Hate Waste)
Zero Waste Scotland is offering the opportunity to attend a free training session, which shares tools and techniques to help us to re-use more and to reduce food waste.
The Love Food Hate Waste (LFHW) training is delivered to many community groups, businesses and public and local authorities across the UK every year, has been tried and tested, and the content is based on extensive research findings around food waste.
The aim of the Love Food Hate Waste training is to provide you with knowledge of the scale and impact of food waste in Scotland, as well as understanding and practical skills around the simple things we can all do to stop wasting food at home, at work, and out and about, and save money in the process. This can then be cascaded to your colleagues, community, friends and family. You will (if you wish) receive a certificate at the end of the training. We can also provide your organisation with a certificate and a USB containing all the materials you would need to pass the message on.
- Introduction to food waste
- Discussion around food waste diaries
- Love Food Hate Waste activities: planning, portioning, date labels etc
- Make one change pledge
FOOD WASTE DIARY
The food waste diary is not essential, but is a recommended element of the workshop. Looking at what we in the group threw out during a week shortly before the training is a really useful exercise that helps us understand food waste behaviours and the cost of food waste better. We ask participants to complete a food waste diary over a period of seven days, and return it in advance of the training. The contents of individual diaries will remain confidential and the results will only be discussed as a whole.
